Executive Director of the Golda Meir House Museum

Lena Fishman grew up in Denver, Colorado, and still lives there today with her husband, Daniel Benel, and their two children. After receiving her undergraduate degree in psychology from New York University and a master’s in special education from Bank Street Teachers College, Lena moved to Tel Aviv to teach at the American International School. Upon returning to Denver, Lena built the K-12 Learning Resource Center at Denver Jewish Day School. After her children were born, Lena founded Koala Coach, an education company that prepares parents to integrate simple, playful learning into busy schedules. After twenty years of teaching, Lena became the Strategic Partnerships Manager in the Office of Community Engagement at the Colorado Office of the Attorney General. She was honored to work on statewide initiatives for students, teachers, and older adults. In the summer of 2021, Lena became the Executive Director of the Golda Meir House Museum on the Auraria Campus. Lena is interested in preserving the stories of women and learning the history of places as a way to inspire change. She is excited to revitalize the Golda Meir House Museum and honored to support activation on the Auraria Campus.
